How is the Profit and Loss (PNL) calculated?
Profit and Loss (PNL) shown on the user’s interface is an estimation provided for user reference only. It may not reflect the actual PNL. Various factors may cause differences between estimated and actual PNL, including but not limit to
- discounted fees,
- manual intervention (e.g., manually selling assets during Grid Trading) or
- execution price differences due to order size and market conditions
Details of PNL calculation
- PNL = Total of realized and unrealized profit and loss
- Unrealized PNL) = The profit and loss of holding assets, pending for execution. The value may change according to the market movement.
Example 1: Holding a Position with Unrealized Loss
Buy 0.5 BTC at $60,000 → total investment: $30,000
The price of BTC drops to $55,000
The current value of your BTC is $27,500
Unrealized loss = $2,500
Example 2: Holding a Position with Unrealized Profit
Buy 1 ETH at $2,000
The price of ETH rises to $2,300
You are still holding the ETH (not yet sold)
Unrealized profit = $300 (position not yet closed)
- Realized PNL = The actual profit and loss occurred when buy and sell order in each grid are successfully executed.
